Homemade Chocolate Syrup!

Summer is right around the corner, which means ICE CREAM! YUM!

What makes a nice cold bowl of ice cream better? Homemade Chocolate syrup!

It cost pennies to make, and I love this recipe because you can home can it to preserve it up to a year on the shelf, which makes great gifts!

Homemade Chocolate Syrup!

Yields 7-8 Jelly Jars

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups water
3 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups cocoa powder
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
2 tablespoons light corn syrup or molasses

Directions:

In a small pot, bring water and sugar to a boil.

Whisk in cocoa, vanilla, salt, and corn syrup.

Whisk until all of the solids have dissolved.

Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes until slightly thickened, continue whisking to prevent burning.

Will last 2 weeks in fridge (if it survives that long).

Enjoy!

Want to can it for gifts?

Pour syrup in your jelly jars leaving 1/4 head space.

Place in a water bath for 10 minutes.

Remove and listen for that awesome PING letting you know your jars are sealed!
