homemade goo gone

As most of you know, we have just rebranded to a new shorter name. I have had the old name and website on my car for the past two years, which ment, it needed to go. So, we finally got a break in the rain and I was excited to get my new decal on my car. After spending an hour pealing the vinyl off the back window, I was left with a giant sticky mess… Agh! No problem though, Homemade Goo Gone to rescue!

Homemade Goo Gone is super simple to make, and has none of the harsh chemicals that the store bought stuff has!.

All you need is the following:

1 Part Oil (olive, vegetable, or coconut)

2 parts Baking soda

Mix together to form a paste. Use as needed and store in a air tight container.

Told ya, super simple!

Here is what I started off with. LOTS of peeling to do! It took about an hour to peel all of it off!

This is what was left after getting all of the sticker off… YUCK!

I simply applied the Homemade Goo Gone, and let it set for about 5 minutes.

After the 5 minutes was up, I got to scrubbing… Well, wiping really. The sticky mess came right off! AWESOME!

All I had to do was wipe off the Homemade Goo Gone, and give it a good rinse down with some good old Homemade Windex!

Please note, baking soda is a mild abrasive, so use caution when using it on plastic. Either cut the baking soda in the recipe, or don’t rub so hard.

Now my car was all ready for the new decal! Isn’t it cute?
