Stretch Your Clothing Budget

Clothes… Geez they are expensive!!!!! Who has $50 for a pair of jeans that will only last maybe a year? NOT ME!

Here are some tips and tricks that I use to Save Money on Clothes.

  • Gift cards are your friend. When ever I see them on sale or when they go on deals like buy a $50 Gift Card, get a $10 ECB from CVS, I take full advantage of it. Not only can you get a gift card for items you more than likely would use anyway, but you get the perk of getting extra money to spend in store. Check daily deal sites, or even Ebay, you can find them at a discounted price all the time.
  • Coupons, Coupons, Coupons! My all time favorite store to stock up on clothes is Kohl’s. Not only do they have great clearance sales, but they always have coupons for 10%, 15% and even 20% off! Stack these coupons when they are having their Kohl’s Cash Promo, and stretch your budget even further!
  • Buy out of Season. Stock up on Summer Clothes in the Winter, and vice versa.
  • Buy Solids. They are more versatile, and usually a lot cheaper. Layer them for a different look.
  • Sell your old clothes.  Sell them on Craigslist, Ebay, or if you have kids clothes and don’t have the time to take pictures and do all of that, use places like ThredUp. Ship them off to them, they do all the work, and you get paid via Paypal.
  • Swap with friends. Have a swap party with your friends and family. Invite them to bring the clothes that they don’t wear, or don’t fit, and swap.
  • Make a list. Just like going to the grocery store, make a list of items your family needs, and stick to it.
  • Earn FREE Gift Cards. If you have a smart phone, make use of it! Use Apps like ShopKick and Viggle to earn gift cards to your favorite stores.
  • Sign up for Emails. If you have a favorite store, head over to their website and see if they offer Email Newsletters. It is a great way to get a heads up on sales, and exclusive coupons. If you don’t want tons of emails everyday, set up a separate email account for them, that way you can just log in and see what sales and coupons you have when you need them.
  • Stock up in August. Stock up on kids and teen clothes in August. There are always tons of Back to School deals. This is also a good time to stock up on socks and undies for the whole family.
