After my hair spent 8 years pretty much in a bun at all times, it was dry, split, and just not pretty.

If your hair is dry, damaged, split, or falling out, here are some tips to get it from being just hair, to being healthy hair again!

12 Tips For Healthy Hair

  • Never comb hair while it is wet.  When it is wet, it is at it weakest, and will weaken the elasticity.  Wait till your hair is at least 50% dry before combing.
  • Go a week or two without heat tools.  If you can’t live without your hair dryer, use the cold setting to blow dry.
  • Avoid shampoos with Sodium Lauryl, Ammonium Lauryl, Ammonium Laureth Sulfate, Ammonium Xylene Sulfonate, TEA Lauryl Sulfate,  and ones with Sulfer or Selenium Sulfide (these are usually found in dandruff shampoos).
  • Invest in a deep hair masque and use it once a week.
  • Stay away from metal strengtheners and curling irons. Invest in a ceramic coated one to help protect your hair.
  • Always use a heat protectant spray or serum before using heat tools.
  • Avoid alcohol, and cigarette smoke.  They both dry out your hair.
  • Don’t wash your hair everyday. Going a day or two without a wash lets your natural oils replenish your damaged hair.
  • Get a trim ever six to eight weeks to combat split ends.
  • Use a natural-bristle brush. They are softer and more flexible, so they won’t damage your hair as much.
  • After you condition, rinse your hair with cold water. It will help seal the cuticles, making harder for moisture to enter the hair, which causes frizz.
  • Incorporate more salmon, whole grains, beans and dark greens vegetables.  Your diet plays a big part in your hairs health.
  • Vitamins to help repair your hair:

Iron: Iron carries oxygen to the hair and promotes growth.

B-Complex: Biotin, niacin and cobalamin help restore shine and thickness to hair.

Folic Acid

Vitamin A
